Sunset over the
Sandias

High Mountain
Homes, Inc., a premier builder of
high-end, environmentally
responsible homes in the
Albuquerque, New Mexico area is
changing its name to Engelman
Construction, but the integrity,
quality, and attention to detail
that has defined this builder for
nearly 20 years will remain the
same. While Engelman Construction
continues to build high end custom
homes, the company is now also doing
additions such as casitas and horse
barns as well as
remodels/renovations like the
significant one they did to preserve
the old San Antonito School on State
Hwy 14 N. All Engelman projects are
built to the highest standards of
energy efficiently, incorporating
the latest in green building
technology where appropriate, and
all offer exquisite craftsmanship
and attention to detail.
The mountains east of Albuquerque
where Engelman does most of his
work, offer some of the best living
to be found anywhere. Fresh air,
plentiful sunshine and art gallery
views are daily highlights. David
Engelman's custom homes, mostly
Pueblo and contemporary Pueblo in
style, blend graciously into the
landscapes they mirror with their
flat rooflines and earth-tone
stuccos. Abundant windows open to
the natural canvas of cedar and
rock, arroyo and sky. Panoramic
mountain views and sunsets layered
with red, gold, and orange offer the
eye an ever-changing natural drama.
Summers are cool while winter
usually offers enough snow to enjoy
activities such as skiing and
snowboarding. Pockets of maples and
aspens set spots in the mountains
ablaze with autumn color, and when
the rains have washed the area,
spring wild flowers paint the
roadsides and streambeds.
All Engelman Construction projects
are built with pride and integrity,
reflecting the culture and heritage
of New Mexico while capturing the
magic of this Land of Enchantment.
Mabel Dodge once described New
Mexico as "this country where life
flowed unhampered in wave upon wave
of happiness and delight in being.
Everything has its being-the water,
the trees, the earth and sky.'' What
better place to live!
